Today I set off on my trip to Antarctica.

Flying from Heathrow to Cape Town on Sunday 15th November, I have a few days to explore Cape Town,  go through the required briefings for the Antarctic flights, and of course wait for the right weather. With the flight down to Antarctica scheduled for the 18th, I should be at Halley on the 19th.

The last week has been a blur of preparations, goodbyes, and frantic packing. I did however manage some down time to practice flying my kite in preparation for learning to ski kite.

The packing has been a bit of an experience, 20kg isn't much when you consider I have a kite and the various cables,  charges, and general "stuff" you just throw in. Hopefully I'll have enough clothes for 15 months.

With the packing finally complete I spent last night relaxing, going for dinner and cocktails, eating as much fresh food as I could!

The next post will be from sunny Cape Town.
