This is usually the expression I get when I share the news I'll be spending a year there as Communications Manager.

It's really nice to have support from everyone I've told, they all seem to understand why I want to do it. Until recently, when I was asked why. “Why do you want to spend a year on a cold ice wasteland?”

Well firstly “because it's there”

and the wildlife...

but also because of the experience of living in such an isolated, challenging, but beautiful environment.

There will be undoubtably be times when it won't be what most people call fun, like fixing an antenna in -40 or shovelling snow to melt for water, but I'm actually looking forward to this way of life.
